How to create product categories

Product categories

Product categories are the category titles of the groups of items/products you wish to sell and must be created before creating items/products.

For example, you may have a cafe with the following categories, drinks, breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Steps to create a product category

1. From the left-hand side menu in vendor admin, select Product Categories.
2. On the Product Categories screen in the top right-hand corner, click Actions > New Product Category.
   
3. Complete the fields within the New Product Category modal:
   • Category name – The name of the category.
   • Sizing Option – Sizing relates to whether there are different sizes available for your menu item/product. Select single if there is only one size available, or select S-M-L-XL if there is more than one size available. If you select S-M-L-XL the products within the category do not have to have all these sizes, only the sizes for which you input a price will display in-app. The sizes will display as Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large.    • Default Tax Rate - The tax rate for the category will default to your region’s tax rate. To change it, select the tax rate you would like from the drop down. The tax rate selected will apply to all items/products in the category.
     
4. Click Save. The product category will now show on the Product Categories screen.
   

Tip

Once your product category is saved, the Hide toggle can be used to quickly hide or show the product category in the app.
