Adding an image or video to a news article
News articles are created without a video or image and you can add a video or image after the news article has been created, but before it is published (it is not possible to add a video or image at the creation stage). It is recommended to add a video or image to give the app user a visual indication of what the news article is about. Currently you can only upload 1 video and up to 10 images per news article. If no image is added, a stock image is shown to the app user.
The news article video or image will show on the news list view, the news page and homepage news feed. If a video is added, a play button will be overlayed the first image to indicate to the app user there is a video.
Steps
- From the left-hand side menu in building or client admin, select News & Comms > Building Owned.
- On the Building Owned News and Comms screen, navigate to the news article you want to add a video or image to and on the far right click Options > Add/Update media.
- On the Upload Media modal, to add a video, choose Yes to add a video to the carousel and paste a direct link to the video on Vimeo (the video must be uploaded to Vimeo, see how to get a direct link to video files). To upload an image, click Choose File and select the file you want to add to the news article from your folders and click Open. Note, images should be a PNG or JPEG file and under 4MB in size.
- Click Save. Your news article will now have a video and/or image in the app.
