What is the automatic update screen
The automatic update screen is an important tool as it can be used to provide messaging that is inescapable to app users.
It can be used when updating legacy users to VTS or updating legacy app to newer legacy app version. When being used to direct app users to a new app powered by VTS, the screen will inform users of what is happening and direct them to the app store so they can download the new app.
How the automatic update screen is triggered
The Automatic Update screen will be displayed when the app version being used by an individual app user is lower/older than the pre-determined minimum version configured. Once triggered, an app user will be shown a screen that will require them to update their app version to continue using the platform.
A customised ‘Automatic Update’ message can be set at either the ‘Client’ or ‘Building’ level depending on the level of customisation that is required. If an automatic update message is set at a Client level, all app users in all buildings which fall under that client will be shown the customised update messaging. If the automatic update is set at a building level, all users within the building will see the customised update message. Setting at a building level, enables each building to have customised messaging, creating further specification.
How to configure the automatic update screen
To generate a customised automatic update message, information needs to be provided to the support team. This information can be provided in the form of an email to hostbuilding@cbre.com. The email needs include the following information:
- What building/ client the messaging is required for
- Which section of the screen are to be customised and those customisations (being aware of the limitations noted below)
- If the message is required to encourage legacy app users to update there app to a particular version (and which) OR if it is intended to direct user to the new platform
- When the message needs to be live in app
If a mockup/demonstration is required, this can be organised, however, this must be requested minimum 2 weeks prior to any screens being installed live for users.
Please note that all fields are mandatory and can not be excluded, i.e. app users will always need to be shown a button. If any fields are not customised, then the default value for that field will be used instead.
